Don't Believe Everything You Read Dept.: Ed Martin is or was the TV reviewer for the newspaper, Inside
Media. (I haven't seen a copy in years.) In case you can't read the text on your screen, the clipping above says:
In my Nov. 15, 1995 review of Fox' "Mad TV," I made reference to "the late [artist] Sergio Aragonés, the gifted creator of [the
Mad magazine cartoon] Spy vs. Spy." Aragonés' partner, Mark Evanier, writes to inform me that Aragonés is "very much alive" and
actively producing material for Mad magazine and other publications. Also, Aragonés did not create "Spy vs. Spy." That distinction
goes to Antonio Prohias, described by Evanier as "also among the living." This is very unsettling, in that I have never killed anyone (in
print) before. My apologies to any and all offended parties.
Since this was published, the part about Mr. Prohias being alive has sadly become inoperative. The week he died, several people
called or e-mailed to offer their condolences about my partner passing away.

I forget who sent me this but it led to a mental image of a car sinking into the ocean.

That's a guy named Buck Steele in a homemade Groo suit at the 2002 Comic-Con International in San Diego. What could have
possessed a 42-year-old AutoZone parts store manager from Pahrump, Nevada to dress up in a homemade Groo suit and venture out in public? Even
though armed? Who can say what makes people do such things? Surely it couldn't be the $200 prize he won...could it?

Here's another Groo item: A set of little "PVC" figurines of our key characters, expertly crafted by some unknown person in another
country working from Sergio sketches. These actually came out in October of 2002.
Groo and all related characters and artwork are Copyright © 2007 Sergio Aragonés
